In a report released by the Atlantic, Ann Arbor was ranked 6th in the Top 25 Brainiest Metros. Richard Florida determined the rankings by using data from Lumos Labs via their online brain-performance program, Lumosity.

According to the report, Ann Arbor, Michigan also came out on the top in the following areas:
• 5th in the Top 10 Brainiest CBSA’s for People 35 Years of Age and Under
• 5th in flexibility (the ability to switch between cognitive processes)
• 3rd in speed (the time it takes to receive and respond to incoming information).
