10 Fun Halloween Events in the Ann Arbor Area 2022

Ghouls, goblins and ghosts — the only thing scarier than Halloween is not having a way to celebrate this fun and spooky holiday!

That’s why we gathered some of the most-anticipated upcoming Halloween events in the Ann Arbor area, from trunk or treats to parades and horror movies to concerts. Don’t worry — most events are family-friendly, involving candy and other kid-focused activities, so you can bring the whole crew for a spooktacular time!

 

WACC Bourbon and BBQ | Ann Arbor

Where: Frutig Farms

When: October 6

Washtenaw Area Council for Children is hosting a Bourbon and BBQ fundraiser on Thursday, October 6 at The Valley, which is part of Frutig Farms. Here, guests can enjoy generous selections of bourbons from various local and national distilleries, plus delicious local barbeque. There will be live music from Joanna Sterling and her band throughout the evening and an online auction with rare and unique items donated by community supporters. Tickets for Bourbon and BBQ are $80, which includes dinner and drinks, with all proceeds going to support the safety and protection of children in Washtenaw County.

 

Hometown Halloween | Chelsea

The second half of October is packed with Halloween happenings in Chelsea as part of their annual Hometown Halloween tradition. HSHV Muttster Mash | Ann Arbor

Where: Humane Society of Huron Valley

When: October 22

The Humane Society of Huron Valley is hosting their annual Muttster Mash Halloween party for little ones on Saturday, October 22. Enjoy family-friendly activities throughout the shelter, like games, trick or treating, crafts for the animals, pictures with Happy the Hound, meet and greets with adoptable animals, and much more. Tickets are $10 per child (ages 1 and up) and free for adults (limit of two adults per child). Pre-registration is required — but sign up soon, as this event sells out every year!

 

Trunk or Treat | Ypsilanti

Where: West Willow Farmers’ Market

When: October 22

The West Willow Farmers’ Market is a brand new addition to Ypsilanti Township’s West Willow neighborhood. The market is part of a larger initiative in the community and provides a space for local vendors and entrepreneurs to set up a booth and sell their products right in their own neighborhood. On October 22, the market is hosting a Trunk or Treat event, which will include free candy, a spook house, local food vendors, and community collaboration of all kinds! The event goes from 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

 

Outdoor Movie Series: Rocky Horror Picture Show | Ypsilanti

Where: Frog Island Park

When: October 27

Outdoor Movie Series: Rocky Horror Picture Show Ypsilanti, MI

The Ypsilanti Downtown Development Authority’s free summer movie series concludes with one final feature film — just in time for Halloween! Head to Frog Island Park for the showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show, and make sure you’re wearing your finest costume so you can participate in the costume contest. The movie starts at sunset!

 

Downtown Trick or Treat | Milan

Where: Downtown Milan

When: October 28

On Friday, October 28, the Milan Area Chamber is hosting their Downtown Trick or Treat event, where area merchants, businesses and organizations will pass out candy from their storefronts and at stations in Tolan Square. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and best storefront/display! The event goes from 5–6 p.m. and is completely free to attend.

 

University of Michigan Halloween Concert | Ann Arbor

Where: Hill Auditorium

When: October 30

University of Michigan Halloween Concert Ann Arbor, MI

The University of Michigan orchestras are joining forces for this Halloween tradition. Featuring spooky sounds, musical classics and Halloween favorites, the show celebrates the holiday with tricks, treats and great music. Come in costume or come as you are! Tickets range from $10-14.

 

Halloween Spooktacular | Dexter

Where: Nixon Farms

When: October 30

Have a blast at Nixon Farms’ Blast Corn Maze at the 1st annual Halloween Spooktacular! Dress up the whole family to go through the corn maze and enjoy a variety of fall festivities, including the you-pick pumpkin patch, hayrides, farm animals, pedal cars, a straw maze, a bakery, yard games and more. Tickets for Halloween Spooktacular are available here — and every person in costume gets a free cinnamon sugar donut!

 

Downtown Trick or Treating and Parade | Ann Arbor

Where: Downtown Ann Arbor

Downtown Trick or Treating and Parade Ann Arbor, MI

Don’t miss all the Halloween fun happening the day before Halloween along Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor! There will be a parade featuring costumed kids traveling along Main Street at 11:30 a.m. followed by trick-or-treating downtown until 3 p.m. Costumed kids can travel to participating Main Street area businesses, which will be marked with black and orange balloons! Halloween Paint and Play | Pinckney

Where: Hamlett Lavender Farm

When: October 30

The Hamlett Lavender Farm in Pinckney will be open with special hours on October 30 for a full day of fall fun at the farm! Guests can shop at the farmstand for lavender products and crafts, along with a variety of seasonal favorites, like caramel and pumpkin spice popcorn and fall-scented body sugar scrub. There will also be games set up around the farm for kids to play. Ms. Katherine from Llama Mama LLC will be on site hosting a special Halloween painting class, with several time slots, with 12 spots available for each. If the slots fill up, she will provide take-home kits for just $5 each. The class is $10 and includes your reservation, all the craft supplies, and instruction.
