Fourth of July Festivities in Washtenaw County

Will you be in the Ann Arbor region for the Fourth of July? There are plenty of events to enjoy in Washtenaw County to celebrate Independence Day!

Fireworks



Carr Park
The Manchester Men’s Club will host the Manchester Fireworks again this year.
The pyrotechnics will begin at sunset on July 3 in Carr Park.  Viewers should come early and bring a blanket. There will be a beer tent, and music will be provided by longtime Manchester resident Brad Fry. Donations are appreciated.


Lakeshore Fireworks of Ypsilanti
The LakeShore Family Festival and Fireworks includes three nights of on-sight fireworks, amusement rides, a petting zoo, circus, classic car show, talent contest, monster truck rides, arts & crafts, on-stage entertainment and so much more! The fireworks are July 1st, 2nd and 3rd at dusk off Ford Lake on Lake Shore Drive in Ypsilanti.
 
Portage Lake
On July 6th, Portage Lake will have its 2013 Fireworks Show at 8789 McGregor Rd., Pickney, MI.
 

Parades


Ann Arbor
The annual Ann Arbor Fourth of July Parade will be held on Thursday, July 4 at 10:00am. The parade, featuring floats, music groups, and walking groups, will travel through downtown Ann Arbor. Children 12 and under are invited to be a part of the Bike Decorating Contest between 8am and 9am and then ride their decorated bikes in the parade. Leading the parade will be this year’s parade Grand Marshal, University of Michigan Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach Mike Bottom.

Ypsilanti
The Ypsilanti Jaycees’ 84th Annual Ypsilanti Independence Day Parade will be held on Thursday at 11:00am in Depot Town. Veterans, marching bands, Elvisfest, local businesses, church groups, live bands, and classic cars are among over 50 participants in this year’s parade.

 

Festivities

Ann Arbor
The Ann Arbor Civic Band continues its “Summer Concert Season” at the West Park Band Shell on Wednesday at 8:00pm. Enjoy great music outdoors as Willim Gourley conducts a “Tribute to the USA.”

Chelsea


The “Annual Fourth of July Chicken BBQ” will be held at the Chelsea American Legion Post on Cavanaugh Lake Road on Thursday from 11:00am to 4:00pm. BBQ chicken, coleslaw, potato chips, baked beans, a roll, for $9 to support the American Legion.
