Flags, Fireworks and other Fourth of July Festivities

Will you be in the Ann Arbor region for the Fourth of July? There are plenty of things to do in Washtenaw County to celebrate Independence Day!

Fireworks





Carr Park
On Tuesday, July 3rd, Carr Park in Manchester will have a fireworks show beginning at dusk.
Hudson Mills Metropark
On Tuesday, July 3rd at 10:00pm, Hudson Mills will have their annual fireworks show. In addition to the fireworks, a DJ will be spinning tracks starting at 7:00pm. Get there early, a $10 fee will be charged at 5:00pm.
Portage Lake
Catch a post-holiday firework show at Portage Lake in Dexter Township at dusk on Saturday, July 7th.

Parades




Ann Arbor
The annual Ann Arbor Fourth of July Parade will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am. The parade, featuring floats, music groups, and walking groups, will travel through downtown Ann Arbor. Children 12 and under are invited to be apart of the Bike Decorating Contest at 9:30am and then ride their decorated bikes in the parade. Leading the parade will be this year’s parade grand marshal, new University of Michigan Women’s Basketball Coach Kim Barnes.
Ypsilanti
The Ypsilanti Jaycees’ 83rd Annual Ypsilanti Independence Day Parade will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am in Depot Town. Veterans, marching bands, Elvisfest, local businesses, church groups, live bands, and classic cars are among over 50 participants in this year’s parade.

Festivities





Ann Arbor
The Ann Arbor Civic Band continues its “Summer Concert Season” at the West Park Band Shell on Wednesday at 8:00pm. Enjoy great music outdoors as Willim Gourley conducts a “Tribute to the USA.”
Chelsea

The “Annual Fourth of July Chicken BBQ” will be held at the Chelsea American Legion on Wednesday from noon to 4:00pm. BBQ chicken, coleslaw, potato chips, baked beans, a roll, and desserts are all available for $9 to support the American Legion.
Whitmore Lake
A multi-day celebration in Whitmore Lake begins on Tuesday with The Parade of Lights, decorated boats on the lake. Wednesday is a full schedule of events including “We the People” in which friends and neighbors gather on the lawn of the library for the annual reading of American Documents, followed by a parade at noon and a Banana Split Easting Contest at 3:00pm.
