In order to determine the most educated city, WalletHub’s compared the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas, or MSAs, to determine where the most educated Americans are putting their degrees to work.Statistics were measured across two key dimensions, including “Educational Attainment” and “Quality of Education & Attainment Gap.” Data used to create the rankings was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, GreatSchools.org and U.S. News & World Report.
Metrics included the percentage of adults aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher, to the educational attainment gap between women and men.
Ann Arbor topped both key categories, which awarded 80 total points in Educational Attainment and 20 points in Quality of Education & Attainment Gap.
Ann Arbor topped the list for the highest percentage of associate degree holders or college-experienced adults; bachelor’s degree holders and graduate or professional degree holders. It ranked second overall for the highest percentage of high school diploma holders.
