Your Guide to Farmers’ Markets in the Ann Arbor Area, Mapped

Farmers’ market season is officially upon us! All throughout the Ann Arbor area, there are a number of farmers’ markets opening for the season this May — bringing fresh, locally grown produce and other handmade products to our neighborhoods. Farmers’ markets are an excellent way to support the many local farmers and makers in our community. Plus, it’s an opportunity to provide healthy, nourishing food for our families on a weekly (or biweekly) basis!

To help you find the farmers’ market nearest you, we created a helpful map, accompanied by all the information you might need about each market, including the time, location and any special events coming up. Join us in shopping local this season at these Ann Arbor area farmers’ markets!

 

Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market

All Year | May–December: Wednesdays + Saturdays, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., January–April: Saturdays Only 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market Ann Arbor, MI

The Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market has been a community tradition for more than 100 years — and it’s open all year long, with extended hours (and dates) during the summer months. This producer-only market has 120 vendors from Michigan and Ohio, selling everything you might need for a well-stocked pantry and fridge, including fruit, vegetables, herbs, eggs, cheese, meat, poultry, honey, maple syrup, bread, jam, pickles, hot sauce, pastries, coffee, tea, and more. Chelsea Farmers’ Market

May–October | Saturdays 8 a.m.–1 p.m. + Wednesdays 1–5 p.m.

The Chelsea Farmers’ Market has provided high-quality food and artisan products for the Chelsea community for more than 25 years. On both Saturdays and Wednesdays during the summer, you can shop a wide selection of seasonal vegetables and fruits, meat and poultry, eggs, honey, maple syrup, coffee, breads and bakery items, and herbs — plus hand-crafted artisan products like jewelry, birdhouses, body care and pottery. The market takes place in downtown Chelsea on Saturdays and in the Chelsea State Bank Lot on Wednesdays. And in November and December, they have a winter market on Saturdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at Washington Street Education Center!

 

Dexter Farmers’ Market

May–October | Saturdays 8 a.m.–1 p.m. + Tuesdays 2–6 p.m.

The Dexter Farmers’ Market is entering its 16th year at their covered site in historic downtown Dexter. Here, you can shop from local farmers and purveyors selling fresh food and crafts — including produce, honey, eggs, baked goods and bread, poultry, beef, sausage, fresh cut flowers, art, jewelry, stationery, soaps and bath products. Enjoy free parking, live music and a wide variety of vendors at both the Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoon markets. Don’t miss the special Kids Biz booth, which features the handcrafted or homegrown items from a kid between the ages of 7 and 13!

 

Dixboro Farmers’ Market

May 27–October 21 | Fridays 3–6 p.m.

Retreat to the small community of Dixboro in Superior Township to visit the Dixboro Farmers’ Market, which pops up at the eastern edge of the historic Dixboro Village Green. They host a number of special events throughout the year that coincide with the scheduled farmers’ market, including Cars on the Green, Halloween Extravaganza, and more. Free parking is available in the nearby church parking lot! One of the best parts about the Dixboro Farmers’ Market is their Music at the Market series, which features local musicians playing beautiful music while you shop — typically Celtic, traditional, or bluegrass tunes.

 

Grand River Farmers’ Market

Starting June | Fridays + Saturdays 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

This Jackson farmers’ market is a favorite for many locals — boasting a wide variety of incredible vendors selling everything from fresh produce to locally raised meat. Mark your calendar for the Grand River Farmers’ Market opening weekend on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4. The market takes place under a covered area in the parking lot of Grand River Brewery in Jackson, which means you can grab a beer before or after you shop at the market!

 

Growing Hope Ypsilanti Farmers’ Market

May–October | May 7–October 29: Saturdays 9 a.m.–1 p.m. + May 24–October 25: Tuesdays 3–7 p.m.

Growing Hope is an organization in Ypsilanti working to “foster an equitable and sustainable local food system where all people are empowered to grow, sell, buy, prepare, and eat nourishing food.” For several years, the organization has managed and funded two markets in Ypsilanti: the Depot Town Farmers’ Market on Saturdays and the Downtown Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays for all income levels. And year-round, Growing Hope operates the Ypsi Area Online Market, an online farmers’ market with two pickup locations to choose from and a growing list of vendors. Northville Farmers’ Market

May 5–October 27 | Thursdays 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

The Northville community gathers on Thursdays for the popular and lively Northville Farmers’ Market, in the lot on the corner of 7 Mile and Center Streets, across from the Northville Downs. This all Michigan-made, Michigan-grown open-air market is a charter member of the Michigan Farmers’ Market Association (MIFMA). It features 75 stalls of produce, plants, food and crafts, all made and grown by Michiganders! Follow the market on Facebook and Instagram for updates throughout the season.

 

 

Pittsfield Township Farmers’ Market

Starting June | Thursdays 2–6 p.m.

Pittsfield Township Farmers’ Market Pittsfield Township, MI

The Pittsfield Township Farmers’ Market also began offering an online shopping option during the pandemic, which they are continuing in 2022! But you can also shop in person starting on Thursdays in June. Head to the intersection of Platt and Michigan Avenue in Pittsfield Township to pick up fresh produce and other homemade goods from a wide variety of vendors. The market is open rain or shine! Plymouth Community Farmers’ Market

May 14–October 22 | Saturdays 8 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Perhaps one of the more well-known markets in the area, the Community Farmers’ Market in Plymouth is a sight worth seeing and a community worth immersing yourself in every Saturday during the summer and early fall! This year, they are planning on a variety of produce, plants, baked goods, artisanal products and more. The market takes place in Plymouth at The Gathering, a covered pavilion across from Kellogg Park, and the street in front of the park. Saline Farmers’ Market

Year-Round | May–November 13 Outdoor: Saturdays 8 a.m.–12 p.m. + November 20–April 30 Indoor: Saturdays 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

This year-round farmers’ market in Saline is a growers-only market, meaning you’ll find local vendors who have grown absolutely everything they’re selling. During the summer months, the outdoor market pops up in downtown Saline and during the winter, it moves inside Liberty School. At both markets, you’ll find a variety of seasonal produce, meat, poultry, cheese, eggs, baked goods and crafts — all from local vendors! Westside Farmers’ Market

July 7–October | Thursdays 3–7 p.m.

The story of Westside Farmers’ Market began in 2005, when a group of volunteers came together with a common goal: to put great, local food into the hands of as many local residents as possible. And they are certainly achieving that goal 17 years later! The Westside Farmers’ Market opens in July at Zingerman’s Roadhouse with anywhere from 12-18 vendors, predominantly of the farming and food nature. Stop by on Thursday evenings to get your provisions for the weekend!
