We are now into the second week of August. With the end of Top of the Park, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, and Saline’s Summerfest, it can be hard to imagine what events are left to enjoy. Don’t fret or forget all that August has to offer. Now is a time to celebrate the wrapping up of summer with these fun events throughout Washtenaw County.
August 14-15

What: Dexter Daze
Where: Village of Dexter
Dexter Daze has developed into an event that includes over 100 booths of artisans and crafters, chalk the block, and fireworks. This event provides free entertainment for the whole family.
 
August 18-22

What: Chelsea Community Fair 
Where: Chelsea Community Fairgrounds
Featuring a little something for everyone, the 78th Annual Chelsea Community Fair has the ever popular demolition derby events and tractor pulls as well as a wide selection of livestock judging, crafts, exhibits and exhibitors, midway games and rides.
 
August 21-23

What: Ypsilanti Heritage Festival 
Where: Riverside Park and surrounding areas
Best known for the duck race, the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival has various exciting activities. The highlights of the festival include arts and crafts, children’s activities, historic architecture, beer & gaming, music, autos & engines, and a lot of food. The festival spans Riverside and E. Cross Street in Depot Town.

What: German Park Picnic 
Where: German Park | Ann Arbor
The German Park Recreation Club hosts three picnics the last Saturday in June, July, and August. Admission gate open 4–9 pm; Park closes at 11 pm. The picnics feature live music, authentic German food and beer, and live German dance performances.

What: Fire Truck Muster
Where: Riverside Park
A gathering of fire trucks, owners and enthusiasts who have fun displaying their fire engines, and sharing their experiences and expertise with others inside beautiful Riverside Park.

What: Thunder Over Michigan
Where: Willow Run Airport
Thunder over Michigan is one of America’s leading air shows and is considered the best “warbird” show in America. Held every summer at Willow Run Airport, the show features world-class entertainment, unique static displays, and fun for the whole family.
