Recycling Option Added to Ann Arbor Parks

Earlier this month the City of Ann Arbor and Recycle Ann Arbor partnered together to provide single-stream sorting bins in 14 Ann Arbor parks and nature areas. Recycling bins give visitors an effective recycling option. The goal is to keep recyclables out of landfills. Studies have shown that if recycling receptacles aren’t present, the majority of people won’t hold on to their plastic water bottle until they get home to recycle it- which leads to unnecessary items being land filled.

Parks piloting this program include:
• Allmendinger Park
• Argo Nature Area
• Bandemer Park
• Burns Park
• Buhr Park
• Fuller Park
• Frisinger Park
• Island Park
• Mary Beth Doyle Nature Area
• Riverside Park
• Southeast Area Park
• Veterans Memorial Park
• West Park
• Wheeler Park
Glass, metal, plastic bottles & tubs (#1, #2, #4-7) and paper can all go into the single-stream sorting bins.  Recycling bins shouldn’t be used for food waste, Styrofoam, plastic bags, or dog waste.
Pilot parks were chosen based on the frequency of park users. For more information about recycling in the parks, please contact [email protected] or 734.662.6288 ext. 119.
