St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and we can’t wait to celebrate with plenty of Guinness, a whole bunch of green and, of course, the Ann Arbor community!

Luckily, the greater Ann Arbor area is home to an abundance of authentic and welcoming Irish pubs where you can enjoy the holiday. To help you figure out exactly where to go, we rounded up our favorite local public houses, from Brighton to Ypsilanti, and everywhere in between.

Whether you’re looking to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day at an Emerald Isle party or just want to ring in the day with a beer and a hot meal—there’s a spot just for you on this list. Just don’t forget to wear green!

 

Conor O’Neill’s

Taking inspiration from real, historic pubs in Ireland, Conor O’Neill’s is the place to go for community fun, social gathering, Irish hospitality, hearty food and great drinks. This authentic spot is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor so you don’t have to go very far to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! And if you want to have an even more unique Irish celebration, head to the pub on a Sunday to catch their weekly traditional Irish session, featuring local musicians playing Irish music for your entertainment.

 

McShane’s Irish Pub

McShane’s Irish Pub—a pub and whiskey bar—has locations in Ypsilanti, Detroit and Belleville where you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Their inviting and hospitable service in a comfortable setting makes your experience extra enjoyable, furthered by live music and a daily happy hour. They have quite the day planned on St. Patrick’s Day with specials like green beer, green tea, Irish Stew, Irish Tater Tots, Potato-Cheddar Sausages and, of course, the classic Corned Beef & Cabbage.

 

The Blue Leprechaun

Nestled in the heart of the University of Michigan’s campus, the Blue Leprechaun is a great place for students and locals alike to “Get your Irish on.” Join them on St. Patrick’s Day for an Irish celebration complete with great drinks, food specials and so much more. Won’t be able to celebrate on the big day? No worries! The Blue Leprechaun strives to make every day feel like St. Paddy’s Day, so you can enjoy the luck of the Irish all year long—and especially during happy hour Monday through Saturday from 4–8 p.m.

 

Ashley’s

338 South State Street, Ann Arbor

This Irish pub has been a part of downtown Ann Arbor’s charm for many years, providing delicious food, free-flowing drinks and plenty of friendly faces to Ann Arborites since 1983. Not only is Ashley’s a great spot to visit for beer lovers, but new beer enthusiasts will have a blast as well, using their signature Flavor Rating to help explore new and interesting brews.
 

Jameson’s Irish Pub & Grill

110 East Grand River Avenue, Brighton

This easy-going Irish pub in Brighton serves classic Irish fare and drinks, with a strong emphasis on beers. In fact, they have 72 taps, including both commonly found beers and some alternating taps, offering variety and interest for beer connoisseurs. In addition to visiting on St. Paddy’s Day, we recommend also stopping by on any Thursday, Friday or Saturday to catch their popular “Dueling Pianos” show, which features two professional piano players and the opportunity for you to sing along!
 

Stout Irish Pub

125 East Grand River, Brighton

Even from the curb, you can tell Stout’s is a traditional Irish destination. The indoor decor keeps the feel authentic—as does the live music, pints of Guinness, Bangers and Mash and other Celtic favorites! If you’re feeling like splurging a bit, get the Guinness BBQ Ribs, or keep it Irish with a plate of traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage. For St. Patrick’s Day, you can expect plenty of special entertainment, drink specials and so much more.

 

Sean O’Callaghan’s Public House

821 Penniman Avenue, Plymouth

This traditional Irish Public House was built in a Victorian style, meaning that inside you’ll find plenty of warm mahogany woodwork and stunning, handcrafted stained glass. But even if the decor wasn’t absolutely breathtaking, we’d still recommend you visit based on the delicious scratch-made menu featuring local ingredients; 24 taps of Michigan and European craft beers; and over 100 Irish whiskeys, bourbons and single malt scotches to try. This St. Patrick’s Day, they’re planning an all-day celebration (from 7 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. the next morning) that includes live music with our favorite local Irish band, The Strangers!

 

Cleary’s Pub

113 South Main Street, Chelsea

This Chelsea pub is popular amongst local residents and those in neighboring towns—and it’s not hard to see why. Cleary’s Pub serves 18 beers on tap, including all of your Irish and local favorites, and a full bar with a great selection of Irish whiskeys. Relax with friends and family this St. Patrick’s Day in the cozy dining room with some fish and chips, or hang out at the bar with a pint of Guinness!
