How to Celebrate Easter 2021 in Ann Arbor, Michigan
As our second Easter during the global COVID-19 pandemic approaches, you might be wondering how to celebrate. While many local businesses and restaurants are open to the public, things aren’t much different from last year. Masks are still required, and social distancing is still recommended.
To give you a few ideas on how to celebrate Easter in Ann Arbor this year, we rounded up a few socially distanced events and at-home festivities you can partake in. We’re talking egg hunts, virtual Easter Bunny visits, movie marathons and more! Read on and then let us know how you plan to celebrate in the comments below.
Attend a local egg hunt
Bring the kids out to hunt for Easter eggs on this festive “egg-cellent” trail! Kids will have the chance to search for eggs in different themed areas. You’ll want to bring a basket or a bag, dress for the weather and bring your camera to capture photos of the Easter Bunny working in his natural habitat. Social distancing and face coverings are required for participation. The cost is $6 per person and children ages 2 and under are free.

When: April 3, 11 a.m.
We have it on good authority that the Easter bunny will be stopping by Willow Greenhouse in Northville to hide a bunch of eggs throughout the gardens! Stop by on April 3rd from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. and go on an exciting hunt with your children. This event is completely free, and masks and social distancing are required.
Or organize one of your own
If you don’t feel comfortable going out to hunt for eggs, creating your own exciting egg hunt is as easy as picking up some plastic or candy eggs from the store! Spend an hour on Easter morning, hiding them around your yard and/or house. You can fill them with coins, candy and other treats. Then, watch with joy as your little ones scour the property to find their goodies!
Take a virtual photo with the Easter Bunny
While there won’t be many opportunities to hug the Easter Bunny this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t still get a photo with him! PictureMeWorld.com is a website that takes a photo of you or your child, and photoshops them into photos with holiday figures. To make up for the lack of friend time, task your children with decorating the entire house for Easter. Make DIY decorations for the wall, place Easter baskets in every room and hang a brand–new Easter wreath on the front door! Not only will the festive décor make you happy when you see it, but your neighbors will appreciate the sentiment too.

Get Easter brunch delivered
If you typically go out for Easter brunch or dinner (or head to Grandma’s for her Easter specialties) don’t take it upon yourself to cook a multi-course meal. If you’re looking for a fun, family activity this Easter, pop some popcorn and pool together your Easter candy for a family movie marathon! One of our favorite parts of Easter Sunday is all the pretty outfits! Even if you aren’t planning on heading to church this Sunday, you can still dress up in your Easter best to enjoy egg hunts, brunch, online services and more. To make it even more of an event, dress up and then head to the car, where you can drive around town and take pictures of your family in their pristine outfits—before they get ruined by chocolate, of course.

If you can’t be together with your family this holiday weekend, consider video chatting them instead!
