#6. Explore the Rentschler Farm Museum

A historic site near downtown Saline, Rentschler Farm Museum serves as a local tourist attraction, showing how farming has changed over the years. The property, first purchased in the early 1900s by Emanuel Rentschler, was used by four generations of Rentschlers before being abandoned in the late 1990s. The City of Saline purchased the land and, with the help of volunteers, transformed it into a museum.

Rentschler Farm Museum consists of an old-fashioned farmhouse and 11 outbuildings including a hog house, equipment shed, hen house and windmill. The Museum is open May to early-December on Saturdays. After late September, only the farmhouse is open as the outbuildings close for the season and their animals return to their owners’ farms.

Regular hours are 11:00am to 3:00pm on Saturdays or by appointment. Call 734-769-2219 for more information.
