The team behind 19 Drips Coffee & Tea’s goal has always been simple: bring the third-wave experience from Yemen to Ann Arbor, carefully crafting the finest coffee and tea for the A2 community. While 19 Drip’s coffee is superb, we’re specifically talking about their incredible tea offering today, which features varieties like English Breakfast, Chamomile, Reiki, Mint, Bancha and more.
Is there anything better than a locally curated tea blend from Arbor Teas? Black, green, white, oolong, pu-erh, rooibos, herbal, decaf and more—they have a loose-leaf tea blend for every occasion on their website. And if you’re new to the tea world, they also sell a variety of brewing equipment so you can make the perfect cup whenever you want. While Arbor Teas isn’t a traditional teahouse where you can taste their teas in-person, you can stop by their warehouse during “pop-in” hours to pick up a blend. They will also sometimes host special tastings or other fun events, so be sure to follow them on Facebook for special announcements!
Crazy Wisdom has been locally owned and independent since 1982, and they’re still going strong today as Ann Arbor’s headquarters for books on specialized topics like holistic health, psychology, Buddhism, spiritual development, consciousness and more. With over 200 book categories total, an inventory of other goods, and a tea room where you can enjoy a full English tea, you’ll find plenty of excuses to hang out in this cozy downtown shop for hours!
Created by the same masterminds behind TeaHaus, Eat More Tea serves much more than just hot and iced tea. Instead of the traditional teahouse fare, here, you’ll find TeaHaus blends being turned into tasty treats like cake, macarons, ice cream and so much more. They are cooking up something new in their tea kitchen every day, so be sure to follow them on social media for special updates!
Sweetwaters is well-known throughout Michigan and Ohio (and even as far as Walnut Creek, California!), but the humble coffee and tea house began right here in Ann Arbor. Alumni of the University of Michigan, Wei and Lisa Bee, founded the first Sweetwaters in 1993 in downtown A2. Now, you can grab a mug of hot tea, iced tea and even tea lattes Downtown, in Kerrytown, on the UM campus, at Westgate Library, in Canton and in Ypsi.
One of Ann Arbor’s favorite tea spots, TeaHaus, offers options suited for a quick stop or an entire afternoon—from single mugs to full English tea (finger sandwiches included!). This cozy tea house is nestled in Kerrytown and just reopened for in-person seating on July 6th! You can also purchase all their loose-leaf teas, along with some tea accessories—online.
