Ann Arbor is known for its abundance of community events. The month of June will be no different. These fourteen diverse events will take place in Ann Arbor and provide marvelous entertainment for all.

Sonic Lunch

Sonic Lunch is a 12-week concert series that begins on June 2 and runs through August 25. Concerts are held each Thursday at noon at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor.

First Fridays
June 3

First Fridays Ypsilanti is a self-guided monthly art and culture walk hosted throughout downtown Ypsilanti at multiple venues. Each month on the first Friday participating venues offer free art activities involving local artists, musicians, and/or tastings. The goal of the First Fridays Ypsilanti is to invite community members into the downtown area to support local talent and businesses while having a fun time!

Cinteopia Film Festival
June 3 – June 12

Created for the people of southeastern Michigan, the Cinetopia International Film Festival features the best feature-length dramas, comedies, and documentaries from the world’s best film festivals (e.g. Sundance, Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin, SXSW, Tribeca, etc.).
 


African American Festival - 640

African American Downtown Festival
June 4 – June 5
The 21st Annual African American Downtown Festival is taking place in downtown Ann Arbor on June 4th and June 5th. The festival, which is an all-day event from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., will celebrate Washtenaw County’s rich African American history at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Ann Street in downtown Ann Arbor.

If you want the full Dexter to Ann Arbor experience, then this is the event for you. It’s 13.1 miles of scenery on winding Huron River Drive with the classic finish in beautiful downtown Ann Arbor! All finishers will receive a custom-designed medal. If you’re up for a challenge, then we’ve got one for you! Show up early and enjoy the bus ride to the starting line of this race adventure!

The Taste of Ann Arbor returns June 5 from 11am – 5pm. This annual community event features local restaurants offering visitors bite-sized (and some not-so-bite-sized) tastes of what they do best. Tickets for food tastes can be purchased at the event for $.50 each.

Starting June 10 and running through July 3 the Ann Arbor Summer Festival is an exhilarating celebration of performing arts, outdoor entertainment, and community spirit. A boutique music and arts festival, the nearly four-week gathering offers dozens of performances, activities, exhibitions, and screenings representative of the best in music, dance, comedy, film, circus and street arts, and family entertainment.

Mayor’s Green Fair
June 10

The City of Ann Arbor mayor’s office is hosting the 16th annual Mayor’s Green Fair on Main Street on June 10 from 6pm,-9pm. The event celebrates our community’s environmental leadership as exhibited by citizens, nonprofits, government and businesses. Green Fair guests and displays of environmental information, “green” products, live music and general enjoyment of the urban outdoor environment. Information, entertainment and hands-on activities for all ages will be provided. Live music will be performed by Paul’s Big Radio, and local vendors will sell organic food on Liberty Street near Main Street.

Grillin’ 2016

One in seven people in Washtenaw County struggles with hunger. Proceeds from Grillin’ enable Food Gatherers to distribute 14,000 meals a day to adults, seniors and children in need of food. Enjoy grilled gourmet sausages, chicken and corn; side dishes from our area’s best restaurants; and desserts. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.

Ann Arbor Book Festival
June 16 – June 18

Formed in 2003, the Ann Arbor Book Festival’s mission is to promote reading, heighten awareness of literacy challenges, and showcase the rich culture of the written word in Michigan and beyond. From June 16 through June 18 join in the book crawl at local restaurants, bars, bookstores, and shops to hear Michigan authors and poets read from their latest works.

German Park Picnic

If you are looking for authentic German fare, beer, and dancing look no further than the German Park Picnic. The German Park Picnics take place the last Saturday of June, July and August. The picnic is well-known for its authentic German dinners and traditional fare. The first German Park Picnic will take place June 25 from 4pm – 11pm.

Camaro SuperFest is the longest running annual all Camaro event in the USA. It is held at Riverside Park in Depot Town Ypsilanti, Michigan. The event is open to ALL Camaros, from stock to highly modified, trailered or driven.
