Washtenaw County School Ranked 7th in the Country

Newsweek just released rankings for U.S. schools. This first list, America’s Top High Schools 2014, ranks schools based solely on performance. The second, Beating the Odds: America’s Top High Schools for Low-Income Students, measures schools with poverty levels taken into account.

The ranking is based on six factors: enrollment rates, graduation rates, AP and International Baccalaureate scores, SAT and ACT scores, the change in student enrollment from 9th to 12th grades, and the counselors to students ratio.
Washtenaw Technical Middle College is a charter school program that’s authorized by Washtenaw Community College and operates out of WCC’s campus.
The full list of Washtenaw County schools that made Newsweek’s rankings were:

  • Ann Arbor’s Community High School: 13th in the country in “Top High Schools,” 58th in the country in “Beating the Odds”
  • Ann Arbor’s Huron High School: 345th in country in “Top High Schools,” 257th in the country in “Beating the Odds”
  • Chelsea High School: 332nd in the country in “Top High Schools,” 458th in the country in “Beating the Odds”
  • Saline High School: 289th in the country in “Top High Schools,” 476th in the country in “Beating the Odds”
  • Washtenaw Technical Middle College: 7th in the country in “Top High Schools,” 35th in the country in “Beating the Odds”
